Finding Your Perfect Skin

There are so many different face makeup on the market that I sometimes have a hard time keeping up, and I’m a professional makeup artist with 13 years experience under my belt. Makeup is ever changing and the industry is saturated with terms like C.C Cream, B.B Cream, full coverage, sheer coverage, how is someone to know what to buy. Well, I am here to facilitate and educate you to the best of my knowledge to help you find the perfect skin base.

Foundation: Used to provide full coverage and to hide all imperfections.Great for long days or nights. Recommended for problem skin or for someone looking for a flawless complexion.Usually found in liquid or cream form. Can be applied using a brush, sponge or fingers. (Personal Favourites: Makeup Forever Ultra HD $52.00, L’Oréal True Match $15.96)

Tinted Moisturizer : Is exactly that, a moisturizer with a tint of colour that provides hydration to the skin. Offers a very sheer and luminous finish. Great to use during the day , however you may need to go over troubled spots with concealer for extra coverage. Can be applied with your fingers or brush.(Personal Favourites: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer $56.00, E.L.F Tinted Moisturizer $3.00)

B.B. Cream: Stands for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm or Blemish Base. Confused yet? I am! In all honesty, I’ve never tried or been attracted to B.B Creams. I feel as though B.B Creams are somewhat confusing in what they do. In my research B.B Creams offer a lighter coverage than a foundation, but heavier than the tinted moisturizer. B.B Creams can be worn alone or as a base for foundation.

C.C Cream: Stands for Colour Correcting and is generally used to correct redness and blotchiness. Many C.C Creams also provides hydration, aids and helps diminish age spots and fine lines, and have buildable coverage. Great for all skin types and can be worn day or night. C.C Creams are my personal favourite for daily use. Can be applied with a brush or fingers. (Personal Favourites: Arbonne $54.00, Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 C.C Cream $18.59)
